As far as I can tell, this is the first app like this that is free. The point of the app is to provide calming background noise to help you relax and fall asleep. There are other apps out there that do this, such as Ambiance, but this one is free and it is decent. It has a volume slider as well as a timer so you can set it to turn off after a given interval.
Most of the sounds included are pretty good. I am especially partial to the ocean one and I also like rain and crickets. The chimes are a bit too screechy for me and I definitely can’t listen to them for very long.
This app probably doesn’t offer the range of sounds that are available in the paid-for apps but it’s definitely one that you can try out to see if you like this type of app and if it is too simple for you, then you can upgrade to a different one.
